Pupils from a local school are helping to support Mind in Bexley
Thanks to the pupils at Trinity Church of England School in Belvedere, as three of the classes in Year 9 have decided to make Mind in Bexley their chosen charity for fundraising.
The Year 9 classes are taking part in the FirstGive programme, which is a charity that works with supporters and partner schools to inspire young people to make a positive change in society.

The aim of the programme is to empower young people to make a difference to thousands of charities across England and Wales.
To aid the students in their fundraising tasks, our Engagement and Fundraising Officer Damian Sirso was invited by the teachers at the school to give a talk to the classes.
Damian visited in late January and talked to the young people about the work of Mind in Bexley, gave them advice on public speaking, discussed the key services that are provided to the community, as well as advice on good mental health and why it is important.
The young people will be raising funds in a number of ways and we will keep you updated about their progress.
Talking about the school visit, Damian Sirso said: “It was really heartening to see how passionate the pupils were about supporting mental health in the Borough. Three classes are supporting Mind in Bexley and we talked about the various ways in which they could raise funds. We wish them all the best in their social action and look forward to seeing how well they do on the day of their presentations.”
Damian continued: “Following the talk, one of the students shared a quote that she finds helpful: ‘Don’t worry about calming the storm, calm yourself and the storm will pass.’ She reflected on how this resonated with the discussion about managing stress and mental wellbeing.”
