The eighth annual World Suicide Prevention Day Conference and Service of Remembrance will take place online on Thursday 10 September 2026.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity to reduce stigma, raise awareness and encourage meaningful conversations about suicide and suicide prevention.

The event is being organised by partners from the South East London Suicide Bereavement Service: Mind in Bexley, South East London Mind, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The conference will highlight important work taking place in suicide prevention and include contributions from people with lived experience of losing someone to suicide.

Chaplains from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust will also lead a non-denominational service of remembrance. This will provide an opportunity to remember people who have died by suicide, whether they were known personally or professionally.

The event will be held online and is open to anyone interested in attending. Places can be booked through Eventbrite here.

About the Suicide Bereavement Service

The Suicide Bereavement Service supports the aims set out in the NHS Long Term Plan and the Suicide Prevention Strategy for England. It contributes to the national ambition of ensuring that everyone bereaved by suicide is offered timely, effective and compassionate support.

People who have been bereaved by suicide can face an increased risk of dying by suicide themselves. Services such as this provide postvention support, helping people following a suicide bereavement and reducing the risk of future crises.

The service is available to people of all ages across the six south-east London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.

During its first five years, the service supported more than 700 people.
