Welling United and Mind in Bexley – Tackling Health event

Mind in Bexley helped support Welling United’s Tackling Health event on Saturday 1 March. Our Engagement and Fundraising Officer Damian Sirso pictured in the Fan Zone at Welling United with a Mind in Bexley banner and a table full of leaflets and information cards

The Wings home game with Slough Town in the National League South saw partners from across Bexley join forces to host an awareness and information event – which also helped provide supporters with access to free health checks.

We were joined by NHS Bexley, Bexley Wellbeing Partnership and the University of Greenwich, along with staff from Hayshine Pharmacy in Welling who were providing the physical health checks.

Mind in Bexley’s Engagement and Fundraising Officer Damian Sirso (pictured) was at the event and said: “It was great to have the opportunity to meet fans at the Tackling Health event at Park View Road.

“These awareness events allow us to showcase the range of services available at Mind in Bexley and work with partners to help promote the physical and mental health support available in the Borough.”

The Wings drew 2-2 with Slough in front of a crowd of 759 at Park View Road. Their next home game is on Tuesday 18th March against Hemel Hempstead at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium.

Welling United are also teaming up with the University of Greenwich and Mind in Bexley for their Talk Club events. The next one takes place on Monday 17th March. It is a place for men in the local community to find a safe space to support mental health and wellbeing.
