Congratulations to Mind in Bexley Volunteer Neil BridgeMind in Bexley volunteer Neil Bridge with the Mayor of Bexley Sue Gower

At this year’s Bexley Volunteer Excellence Awards one of the Pantry Team, Neil Bridge was nominated for an award.

Neil is pictured receiving his certificate from the new Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Sue Gower MBE JP.

The annual Bexley Volunteer Excellence Awards took place on Wednesday 5th June and was timed to coincide with Volunteers Week 2024. The awards are a way of celebrating and recognising the incredible work done by volunteers across Bexley.

Bexley Community Pantry manager Viv Viney said: “At first Neil lacked confidence. After working a few hours a week with me receiving our weekly grocery shop, Neil began to feel comfortable and his confidence began to grow. Now, there is no holding him back, he is one of the ‘team’, chatting to everyone, cracking jokes and always smiling.

“I nominated Neil for the category of ‘Overcoming Barriers to Become Engaged in Volunteering’ and he was shortlisted. He was invited to attend the Volunteer Excellence Awards at the Boat House, Danson Park.  It was an inspiring evening with so many well deserving volunteers from across Bexley.”
