Paige’s Journey to a Brighter Future

At Mind in Bexley, we are proud to walk alongside people on their recovery journeys – and every once in a while, someone like Paige reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

Paige first came to us after years of struggling with her mental health.

“I’ve struggled with my mental health since I was about nine years old,” she told us. “I had been under a lot of different services, but I would say the best service is Mind in Bexley. The Recovery College is amazing – second to none.”

Like many others, Paige joined our Recovery College looking for stability and support. She found both in our groups – including the Walk and Talk Group, which offers a relaxed, social way to connect with others, and Routine Builders, which helps participants rebuild structure and habits in daily life.

She also accessed the Mind in Bexley Crisis Cafe, a lifeline for people in distress.

“The Crisis Café has been amazing – it wouldn’t be a lie to say they probably saved my life quite a few times.”

Over time, Paige built resilience, confidence and a sense of direction for the future. So much so, that she recently felt ready to take the next step.

“I’ve recently left the Recovery College,” she said. “But the only reason I was able to do that is because of the College itself – and all the skills and the confidence that they gave me.”

Now, Paige is studying at college, with plans to go to university and train to be a midwife – a goal she once thought was out of reach.

“It was a dream of mine, but I never thought it was going to be possible. I’ll hopefully be going to uni next year, and that gives me a real sense of purpose – which I think is what I was missing all along.”

At Mind in Bexley, we believe everyone deserves the chance to recover, grow and pursue their goals. We are honoured to have been part of Paige’s journey and we hope her story inspires others to take that first step.

“I think it would be really helpful for other people to use the Recovery College service and see what it can do for you!”
