Individual Placement Support – IPS

What is Individual Placement Support?

Our Individual Placement Support (IPS) service aims to support individuals in gaining or even retaining paid employment. We believe that having a paid job links with our overall wellbeing. Paid employment can have a positive effect on your mental health and wellbeing. Therefore, employment can also be a part of your recovery journey too.

Who is Individual Placement Support for?

The service is provided by Mind in Bexley and we work closely with services, including Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Bexley Wellbeing Hub, to support people with serious mental illness into employment. Support is available for adults living in the borough of Bexley, who are using mental health services.

How can we help?

Within the IPS service, one of our employment specialists can assist you in getting job ready. Therefore, this involves all the aspects of looking for a job, e.g. CV writing, job applications, job searching etc.

We aim to make the journey into employment as smooth as possible, by providing the necessary support and tools to help you find the most suitable job role, including:

  • Interview techniques
  • CV building
  • Job searching
  • Job applications
  • Seek additional support whilst at work – Reasonable adjustments

How to access the service ?

Would you like to receive employment support from our IPS specialist team? Ask a member of your community mental health team to process a referral. We also welcome self-referrals as well.

IPS Grow – Information for Clients

‘It was helpful to speak to someone who understands my situation. It was great to have someone that wants to help and not just doing their job. A genuine person. Personality helped. Having someone that called me and asked how I was feeling and helped when I was nervous/anxious or overwhelmed.’
