Working in Partnership

Mind in Bexley is proud to work alongside a wide network of partner organisations who share our commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing in Bexley.

Together, we collaborate to deliver programmes, pioneer best practice and extend our reach to people who need our support the most.

Partner Organisations

Bexley Mental Health Hub

Bexley Mental Health Hub provides person-centred support based on individual needs and addresses the wider determinants of mental health, such as social connectedness, physical and economic health.

The Hub carries out an initial holistic assessment during which the member of the team will work with the client to establish the areas of need and how the Hub can support them.

Providing easy access to mental health services, the Hub offers short-term interventions and supports people to connect with local specialist services where required.

OneBexley

OneBexley is a partnership of eight charities in Bexley (including Mind in Bexley) that collectively support people to stay independent, healthy, and well. Through this coalition, the charity contributes to system-level functions such as non-complex adult social care assessments (under contract) and shared resource models within Bexley.

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

Mind in Bexley works with Oxleas in the Bexley mental health system for referrals, shared care pathways, crisis support and service integration.

Physical Health Check programmes for people with SMI are delivered in collaboration or alignment with NHS primary care and mental health services.

Re-Instate

Re-Instate is a charity working to improve employment opportunities, quality of life and wellbeing for disadvantaged people in the London Borough of Bexley, including people experiencing mental ill-health, learning disabilities, autistic adults and young people.

A key part of the vision for Re-Instate is the provision of employment services that build sustainable recovery for people experiencing mental ill-health.

IPS Grow

Individual Placement and Support (IPS) helps people accessing health services find work to aid their recovery. We support the development and delivery of evidence-based employment IPS services across the health system.

Revival Kent

Revival Food & Mood is a social enterprise cafe and wellness hub that serves breakfast, brunch and lunch in a unique setting in the heart of Whitstable.

The Revival social enterprise was set up in Whitstable in 2016. It is an innovative model combining food, community, support and information under one roof as a cafe and wellbeing community hub in accessible central/High Street locations. These informal multi-use hubs challenge traditional notions of mental health spaces as clinical and often only available in specific health service locations. The cafe is open, accessible and focused on both informal and focused support, wellbeing initiatives, awareness raising campaigns, community space and workshops and training.

Active Horizons

Mind in Bexley is delighted to work in partnership with Bexley-based Active Horizons who will: assist and work with us in engagement, develop the BAME community forum and make services more appropriate.

Healthwatch Bexley

Healthwatch Bexley is a statutory body hosted by Mind in Bexley. They are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services in the London Borough of Bexley. They work by listening to what people like about services and what could be improved. No matter how big or small the issue, Healthwatch Bexley want to hear about it.

Healthwatch can also assist with signposting people to local services and help with navigating the complaints system.

They focus on ensuring that people’s worries and concerns about services are addressed and that residents views come first – especially those who find it hardest to be heard.

Research and Academic work

At Mind in Bexley, we conduct both original and secondary research, focusing on targeted initiatives and policy development. Collaborating with distinguished academic institutions such as the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, we rigorously evaluate existing practices and challenge prevailing assumptions within the mental health landscape.

A fundamental aspect of our work is addressing and dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. We recognise that stigma can prevent individuals from seeking help and support, creating barriers that hinder recovery and wellbeing. Our research and outreach initiatives are designed to raise awareness, promote understanding, and cultivate inclusive environments where individuals feel empowered to share their experiences openly. We believe in co-production as a powerful approach to our work. By actively involving participants in the research, exhibitions and project development process, we enhance their agency and ensure that their voices and experiences shape the outcomes.
