Impact and Evaluation
Welcome to our Impact and Evaluation section, where we proudly showcase the meaningful projects, exhibitions, and publications that reflect our commitment to advancing mental health awareness and support. Also view cases studies of the impact that Mind in Bexley services and support has made.
At Mind in Bexley, we conduct both original and secondary research, focusing on targeted initiatives and policy development. Collaborating with distinguished academic institutions such as the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, we rigorously evaluate existing practices and challenge prevailing assumptions within the mental health landscape.
A fundamental aspect of our work is addressing and dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. We recognise that stigma can prevent individuals from seeking help and support, creating barriers that hinder recovery and well-being. Our research and outreach initiatives are designed to raise awareness, promote understanding, and cultivate inclusive environments where individuals feel empowered to share their experiences openly. We believe in co-production as a powerful approach to our work. By actively involving participants in the research, exhibitions and project development process, we enhance their agency and ensure that their voices and experiences shape the outcomes. This collaborative model fosters a sense of ownership and investment among participants, leading to more relevant and effective solutions.
Our commitment extends to publishing research that not only identifies and promotes best practices for supporting those experiencing mental distress but also emphasises the critical importance of education and awareness. Our efforts span various sectors, including the NHS, health and social care, and employment, ensuring that services are responsive to the needs of individuals and their caregivers. Through active engagement with diverse stakeholders and communities, we strive to amplify the voices of those affected by mental health challenges. Our initiatives focus on empowering individuals, reducing stigma, and fostering constructive dialogue about mental health issues.
The September 2025 update to the Research Ethics Board (REB) policy for Mind in Bexley and East Kent sets out a strengthened framework for ethical oversight of all research, exhibitions, and evaluation activity across the organisation and Revival Kent. The REB’s remit is to ensure that research is conducted safely, inclusively, and meaningfully, safeguarding the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of all participants. The policy emphasises the integration of lived and local expertise alongside academic and clinical knowledge, reflecting Mind’s wider mission to support recovery, mental health, and community wellbeing. In practice, the REB will review proposals, monitor live projects, and advise on the responsible dissemination of findings, with particular attention to safeguarding, data protection, and avoiding stigma or harm. It is guided by nationally recognised standards including the NHS HRA Framework, ESRC and BPS codes, and GDPR, ensuring high levels of rigour and integrity. By directly connecting research outcomes with Mind’s peer support, and integrated care pathways, the policy promotes equity, learning, and continuous improvement across services and the wider community.
