Mind in Bexley staff attended the Good Mental Health Day event

Staff from Mind in Bexley attended an event in Bexleyheath on Monday 20th January. The Good Mental Health Day was held to provide a range of information for people with Learning Disabilities about the varied services available in the Borough.

Mind in Bexley were represented by our Chief Executive Dr David Palmer and Sophie Regelous (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner).

The event was hosted by the London Borough of Bexley at the Civic Centre in Bexleyheath and included partners Mind in Bexley, Bexley Mencap, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Re-Instate.

Talking about the event, Sophie said: “It was a pleasure to attend the Good Mental Health Day for individuals with learning difficulties today at Bexley Civic Centre. It an event all about mental health awareness, where multiple organisations came together to run workshops and presentations.

“I on behalf of Mind in Bexley ran a session on how to help yourself when feeling low. The presentation focused on what depression is as well as some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help lift low mood.

“The attendees seemed very interested in the topics and were engaged throughout the session. I am very grateful for the opportunity to spread awareness about mental health to our local community.“

Councillor Melvin Seymour, Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services & Health said: “This event demonstrates the power of collaboration and creativity in promoting mental health for everyone, including adults with a learning disability.

“It’s heartening to see so many people come together to learn, share and support one another. The London Borough of Bexley remains committed to improving mental health services and ensuring access to resources for all our residents.”
