Generous grant help to supports our Bexley Community Pantry
Mind in Bexley was delighted to receive a £5,000 grant from L&Q to support the work of the Bexley Community Pantry. The grant was presented at the Pantry in Bexleyheath by representatives from L&Q.
The funding will help the Pantry continue supporting people in Bexley who are finding it difficult to afford everyday essentials, including food, groceries and household items.
L&Q is a leading residential developer and housing association, founded over 50 years ago to create affordable, high-quality homes for better living. The grant recognises the importance of local community support at a time when many households continue to face pressure from the rising cost of living.
The Bexley Community Pantry, run by Mind in Bexley, is a community food store next door to our charity’s office on Devonshire Road. For a contribution of £4, people using the Pantry can choose from a variety of fresh, tinned and ready meals worth up to £20.

The aim is to help people make their money go further by reducing food shopping bills, while also offering a welcoming and respectful space for those accessing support.
Simon Dolby (Mind in Bexley’s Development Lead) said: “We are extremely grateful to L&Q for this generous £5,000 grant. The Bexley Community Pantry is an important part of our work to support local people, particularly those who may be struggling with the cost of food and other essentials.
“This funding will make a real difference, but we also rely on the kindness of local people, businesses and organisations who donate items to help keep the Pantry stocked.”
Mind in Bexley is encouraging anyone who is able to support the Pantry to consider donating items such as tinned food, groceries, toiletries and other everyday essentials.
The Pantry is available to Bexley residents who access Mind in Bexley services. It is open on Fridays from 9am to 4pm at 301c Broadway, Bexleyheath DA6 8DT.
Donations, grants and community support all help the Bexley Community Pantry continue its work to ensure that people in the borough do not have to face hardship alone.
Anyone who would like to donate food or household items can contact Viv Viney, Pantry Manager, by emailing vviney@mindinbexley.org.uk or calling 07951 493 215. For more information please visit the Bexley Community Pantry webpage.
