The people of Bexley “Take Action” to support Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 in the Borough.
With this year’s national theme for Mental Health Awareness Week centred on “Take Action,” people from across Bexley responded in great numbers to help raise awareness and support Mind in Bexley.
Our ‘Wear It Blue’ campaign is designed to spark conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Local barbers, hair salons, shops, schools and sports teams came together to support our #WearItBlue initiative.
Staff at local businesses dressed in blue to raise awareness and encourage dialogue. Businesses and supporters organised bake sales, yoga and meditation sessions, and offered customer discounts, all while proudly wearing blue.
Mind in Bexley also hosted our new Trusted Spaces: Where People Start to Talk exhibition at Bexley Civic Offices. Drawing on the voices and experiences of barbers, hair stylists, tattoo artists, ambassadors across Bexley, the exhibition highlights the role of trusted, non-clinical environments in supporting early recognition before distress reaches crisis point. The exhibition is available to view until Friday 22nd May.

Simon Dolby, Development Lead for Mind in Bexley, said: “Thanks to everyone in Bexley who came together to support Mental Health Awareness Week and our #WearItBlue campaign.
“We continue to receive such fantastic support from businesses, schools and other organisations across Bexley. Supporting mental health shouldn’t just be a one-week event, and we all need to continue to let people know there is help and support available in Bexley all year round.”
