New Singing for Wellbeing choir for people affected by cancer

Mind in Bexley is launching a new Singing for Wellbeing choir, bringing people together to enjoy music, build confidence and experience the wellbeing benefits of singing as part of a group.

If cancer has touched your life, whether you are living with it, recovering, or supporting someone who is, you are warmly welcome to join our Singing for Wellbeing choir.

The new group starts on Tuesday 29 September at 5pm and will meet weekly at the Mind in Bexley office, 2a Devonshire Road, Bexleyheath DA6 8DS.

There are no auditions and no singing experience is needed. The choir will provide a friendly and relaxed environment where the emphasis is on taking part, enjoying music and connecting with other people.

Singing for better wellbeing

You do not have to consider yourself a singer to experience the enjoyment that comes from making music with other people.

Sessions take place every Tuesday from 29 September at 5pm at 2a Devonshire Road, Bexleyheath.

Group singing can offer a range of wellbeing benefits, including encouraging positive emotions, building confidence and helping people feel a greater sense of connection and belonging.

For people whose lives have been affected by cancer, taking time to do something enjoyable can also offer a welcome opportunity to focus on an activity away from some of the pressures and worries they may be experiencing.

Music, confidence and connection

Singing for Wellbeing is designed to be welcoming and accessible. There is no pressure to perform and you do not need any previous experience, just a willingness to come along and give singing a try.

Singing together can help people develop social connections and a sense of belonging, while the regular nature of a choir provides an opportunity to meet familiar faces and enjoy being part of something together.
