Support and Groups

We run a variety of support groups and activities including:

Carers Group for relatives and friends of someone on Millbrook/Lesney Ward at the Woodlands Unit, Queen Marys, Sidcup or under the Home or Day Treatment Teams.

This runs every first, third or fifth Wednesday of the month in the Family Room at the Unit between 5:00pm– 6.30pm. Clinical Staff including Consultants and Ward Managers from the Unit attend to speak in general about any concerns or questions you may have.

A monthly speakers support group run jointly with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

Runs at the Erith Centre, Park Crescent, Erith, Kent, DA8 3EE on the fourth Wednesday of every month between 2pm – 4pm.

For relatives and friends of someone with a Mental Health or Drug/Alcohol problems in Bexley; receiving support from the Community Mental Health Teams or the Pier Road Project Drug/Alcohol Team.

A speakers group where guest speakers respond to questions around issues of concern to carers. Guests include Senior Personnel from Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Bexley Council and significant organisations in Bexley such as the Police. 

Monthly Carers Peer Support & Well-Being event run jointly by Mind in Bexley & Pier Road project.

Runs 1pm- 4pm every once a month (excluding bank holidays) at St John Vianney Church Hall, 21 Heathfield Rd, Bexleyheath, DA6 8NP

This space is for relatives and friends of someone in Bexley experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol problems. Those attending receive emotional peer support alongside refreshments, complimentary therapies (first come first served basis), arts & crafts and a space where you can relax and receive support that is just for you.

 Monthly Family and Friends Support Group run jointly with the Pier Road Project

Runs once a month on a Tuesday evening 5.30pm – 7pm @ Mind Revival Café 230 – 232 Broadway Bexleyheath DA6 8AS

For relatives and friends affected by another person’s mental health alongside drug and/or alcohol issues.

Monthly Family and Friends Support run jointly with the Pier Road Project

 Runs once a month on a Tuesday evening 5.30pm – 7pm @ Mind Revival Café 230 – 232 Broadway Bexleyheath DA6 8AS

For relatives and friends affected by another person’s mental health and Autism.

Fortnightly Carer’s Mindfulness, Relaxation and Self-care sessions

 Runs every other Tuesday evening 5.15pm – 6.15pm @ Mind in Bexley, at St John Vianney Church Hall, 21 Heathfield Rd, Bexleyheath, DA6 8NP

For relatives and friends affected by another person’s mental health and/or drug or alcohol use.

During the sessions we practice simple breathing, mindfulness and meditation exercises to reduce stress and build self-compassion for ourselves alongside others.

Qi gong and Tai Chi Classes £3 per session

Runs most Mondays 2pm – 3pm @ St Vianneys Church Hall, 21 Heathfield Road, Bexleyheath, DA6 8NP

Qi gong is a mind/body/breath practice that improves mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing technique and focused intent.

The benefits of Qi gong have been found to include reduced anxiety & depression, lower blood pressure, improved immune system, greater awareness, calmness and well-being, improved mental focus, relief of chronic pain, loosening joints and muscles, improved digestion, and assistance with posture.

Understanding Mental Health workshops

These two hour workshops are for people experiencing mental health conditions and their family & carers. They are co-designed by people with lived experience and have been created to raise awareness and understanding of mental health conditions including recognising causes, symptoms and possible coping strategies for a wide range of mental health issues.
